Toutefois l’utilisation d’outils de contrôle de gestion pour piloter l’innovation ne fait pas l’unanimité dans la littérature, ceux-ci peuvent représenter un danger pour le développement de la créativité. Dans ce travail, nous étudions les interdépendances entre contrôle de gestion et créativité et nous nous interrogeons sur les rôles du contexte organisationnel. Nous avons mené une étude hybride quantitative puis qualitative. Il ressort de ce travail doctoral différents résultats :• Un pilotage souhaité par les organisations malgré les risques.• Un pilotage à deux niveaux tel un iceberg, avec dans la strate émergée, les outils de contrôle de gestion formels tandis que les pratiques plus informelles, largement utilisées, sont représentées par la partie immergée.• Un pilotage qui apparaît comme inabouti. Nous étudions deux univers différents, celui des entreprises innovantes et celui de structures de l’économie sociale et solidaire. Dans ces dernières le contrôle de gestion y est en tension avec les valeurs. Nous découvrons un environnement innovant qui permet de stabiliser les tensions existantes. La comparaison de ces deux contextes organisationnels nous amène à mettre en évidence :• Le rôle primordial de l’organisation qui peut être générateur de créativité ;• L’acceptation d’un déséquilibre entre les éléments en tension qui peut être source de remise en question et favorable à l’innovation ;• Le rôle des cadres dirigeants comme médiateur entre l’organisation et les acteurs du terrain. Innovation processes are uncertain: they can be source of tension, as they gather a significant part of a company's risk. Literature does not reach consensus, recommending how to manage innovation via controlling tools. For some authors, it is mandatory to use tools to manage the innovation process whereas others claim: controlling tools are an innovation killer. In this work, we study the interdependencies between management control and creativity and the question of the roles of the organizational context. If controlling tools are not totally suitable, they are widely used and praised by companies to manage their innovation processes. These processes can be compared to an iceberg where controlling tools depict the emerging part. We conducted a quantitative and a qualitative studies in innovative companies and in the social and solidarity economy. The comparison of these two contexts leads us to highlight the essential role of the organization which can generate creativity, the acceptance of an imbalance between the elements in tension which can be a source of questioning and a support to the innovation as well as the role of local managers as mediator between the organization and the field actors.
