La thèse porte sur l'un des grands défis pastoraux de l'Église catholique au Rwanda : l'autofinancement. Après plus de cent ans d'évangélisation, l'Église dépend financièrement et matériellement des aides extérieures. Ces aides accordées lui ont longtemps assuré les revenus suffisants pour ne pas éprouver le besoin de se prendre en charge financièrement. Mais, depuis quelques années, ces aides ont sensiblement diminué. Ainsi la situation financière de notre Église est devenue préoccupante. Nos diocèses ont alors décidé de s'engager sur la voie de l'autofinancement. L'objectif de notre étude est de comprendre la nature de ce problème financier, d'identifier les causes principales de la dépendance de notre Église et de proposer des perspectives pastorales pour redresser sa situation financière. Ce processus passe par un changement de mentalités, un engagement et une implication de tous les fidèles dans la vie matérielle de l'Église, une bonne gestion financière des biens disponibles et la création d'unités de production.
The thesis deals with one of the great pastoral challenges of the catholic Church in Rwanda : self-financing. After more than a hundred years of evangelization, the Church is financially and materially dependent on external aids. These grants have long guaranteed her sufficient income not to feel the need to support herself financially. However, in recent years, this aid has decreased significantly. Thus the financial situation of our Church has become worrying. Our dioceses then decided to embark on the path of self-financing. The objective of our research is to understand the nature of this financial problem, to identify the main causes of the dependence and to propose pastoral perspectives to redress the financial situation. This process involves a change of mentality, a commitment and involvement of all the faithful in the material life of the Church, good financial management of the available goods and the creation of production units.
