En intégrant une posture interprétativiste nous observons et analysons de nouveaux phénomènes liés à l’émergence des réseaux sociaux. En effet, les commerciaux s’appuient sur les outils digitaux pour mener une diversité de pratiques commerciales auxquelles s’ajoutent des pratiques orientées marketing. Ce changement est accueilli de diverses manières par la force de vente qui s’engage dans des efforts, parfois contradictoires, pour agir sur les pratiques commerciales. Nous identifions notamment des commerciaux s’attachant à diffuser le social selling, quand d’autres en freinent le développement. Les commerciaux sont ainsi les principaux acteurs du déploiement des réseaux sociaux au sein de leurs entreprises. Notre recherche se poursuit en démontrant les bénéfices des comportements précédemment identifiés, c’est-à-dire la promotion marketing et la promotion des réseaux sociaux, sur la performance commerciale. Nous incitons par conséquent les organisations à soutenir ces efforts menés par des commerciaux sur les réseaux sociaux. Our paper-based dissertation aims to explore in depth the concept of social selling, this sales revolution in which social media has a growing impact on business-to-business (BtoB) salespeople’s practices. By integrating an interpretive posture, we observe and analyze new phenomena related to the emergence of social media. Indeed, sales representatives rely on digital tools to conduct a variety of sales practices and complement those with marketing-oriented practices. This change is welcomed in various ways by the sales force, which engages in sometimes contradictory efforts to act on sales practices. In particular, we identify salespeople who are committed to diffusing social selling, while others are thwarting its development. Salespeople are thus the main actors in the deployment of social media within their companies. Our research demonstrates the benefits of the previously identified behaviors, i.e. marketing promotion and social media promotion, on sales performance. We therefore encourage organizations to support these efforts led by sales reps on social media.
