L'objectif de cette étude est d'analyser les effets de certaines variables cognitives spécifiques très présentes dans le contexte entrepreneurial et de mieux comprendre comment elles façonnent la structure du capital d'une entreprise et les décisions de financement entrepreneuriales. Nous nous appuyons d'abord sur une revue systématique de la littérature qui étudie quels sont les principaux facteurs cognitifs liés à la confiance entrepreneuriale et comment elle affecte les décisions et les résultats d'une entreprise. Deuxièmement, nous abordons la relation entre l'ESE et la collecte de fonds et la performance d'une entreprise dans la deuxième étude de la thèse. Une troisième étude aborde empiriquement trois facteurs cognitifs liés à la confiance d'un entrepreneur dans la décision d'emprunter des crédits bancaires. Le manuscrit apporte originalité et nouveauté en analysant les effets d'une classe spécifique de variables cognitives liées à la confiance d'un entrepreneur This thesis empirically explores the interaction between cognitive factors related to an entrepreneur’s confidence, financial decisions, and a firm’s performance. The objective of this study is to analyze the effects of some specific cognitive variables highly present in the entrepreneurial context and better understand how they shape a firm’s capital structure and entrepreneurial funding decisions. We first rely on a systematic literature review that investigates what are the main cognitive factors related to entrepreneurial confidence and how it affects a firm’s decisions and firm’s outcomes. Second, we address the relationship between ESE and fundraising and a firm’s performance in the second study of the thesis. A third study empirically addresses three cognitive factors related to an entrepreneur’s confidence in the decision to borrow bank credits. The manuscript brings originality and novelty by analyzing the effects of a specific class of cognitive variables related to an entrepreneur’s confidence.
