La position d'un point sur une telleimage est décrite par des coordonnées entières contrairement à celle d'un point de l'objet initialdécrite par des coordonnées réelles. Ce passage de la géométrie euclidienne usuelle décrivantl'objet initial à la géométrie discrète décrivant l'image obtenue, appelé discrétisation, cause uneimportante perte d'informations. Si la résolution de l'image discrète est trop faible par rapport auniveau de détails de l'objet initial, l'information topologique et les quantités géométriques peuventêtre perdues. Il est alors nécessaire d'imposer certaines hypothèses à cet objet réel pour permettrede reconstituer ces informations. When an object is numerically captured, the resulting picture is pixelated. The position of a point on a such a picture is described by integral coordinates on the contrary of those of the initial object that are real coordinates. This transition from usual Euclidean geometry describing the initial object to the digital geometry describing the resulting picture, called digitization, may produce an important loss of information. If the resolution of the picture is not accurate in comparison with the level of detail of the initial object, the topological information and the geometric quantities can be lost. Thus, it isnecessary to assume some hypotheses on this real object in order to recover this information.
