Ce travail s’attache à étudier, par une approche qualitative – fondée sur des entretiens semi-directifs et sur l’observation ethnographique –, la forme que prennent ces relations telles que co-construites avec les enfants, leur diversité et leur possibilité d’évolution dans le temps. Les relations de soin donnent à voir des rapports sociaux plus larges et parfois inégaux, notamment d’âges et de générations. En investiguant le rôle et l’action des divers acteurs impliqués dans ces deux arènes d’action, l’enquête vise à saisir plus finement les manières dont ces asymétries sont reproduites, « mises en pratique » dans les soins ou modifiées. En plaçant au centre de l’analyse l’agentivité des enfants, elle étudie les manières dont ceux-ci se saisissent de ces asymétries, les interprètent, y participent ou les subvertissent en se réappropriant leur corps et la maladie, en négociant en situation et avec une pluralité d’acteurs leur place dans les soins et les liens qu’ils entretiennent aux autres. This thesis investigates the configuration of care relationships within the hospital and the family, based on the cases of children aged 6 to 14 living with Type 1 diabetes. This works aims to study, through a qualitative approach – based on ethnographic observation and interviews – the form that these relationships take as co-constructed with children, their diversity, and their possibility of evolution over time. Care relationships reveal broader and sometimes unequal social relationships, especially of ages and generations. By investigating the role and action of the various actors invested in these two arenas of action, the study aims to gain a more detailed understanding of the ways in which these asymmetries are reproduced, “put into practice” in care practices, or modified. By placing children’s agency at the center of the analysis, it studies the ways in which children grasp, interpret, participate in or subvert these asymmetries by reappropriating their own bodies and their illness, by negotiating in situ and with a diversity of actors their place in care relationships and the links they maintain with others.
