Ces dernières années, une forme d’implantation urbaine connaît un engouement grandissant : la ville sur l’eau. La principale raison qui explique l’ampleur de ce phénomène est qu’elle apporte une alternative particulière au manque d’espace sur la terre ferme due à une augmentation démographique importante et à l’élévation du niveau de la mer causée par des facteurs multiples et complexes. Cette forme urbaine donne la possibilité de s’agrandir presque à l’infini, l’étendue de la mer étant à la portée des ambitions scientifiques dans ce domaine. Cette recherche a pour finalité de rassembler des exemples d’expansions urbaines en Europe et en Chine, ayant des typologies différentes : la ville sur pilotis, la ville flottante et le remblai. Désormais, le concept commence à faire son chemin dans les réflexions territoriales et devient de plus en plus une réalisation concrète. Cette étude cherchera à approfondir l’idée d’intégration de la mer comme zone d’implantation possible puis de prolongement des espaces urbains existants.
In the recent years, a form of urban settlement has grown into popularity: the city on water. The main reason for the rise of this phenomenon is that it provides a peculiar alternative to the lack of space on land due to a significant population increase and the rising water caused by multiple and complex factors. This urban form gives the possibility of expanding almost indefinitely, the sea being within the reach of scientific ambitions. This research aims to bring together examples of urban expansions located in Europe and China, with various typologies: the city on stilts, the floating city and the embankment. From now on, the concept has been making its way in territorial policies and is increasingly becoming an actual realization. This study will seek to deepen the idea of integrating the sea as a possible settlement area as well as an extension of existing urban spaces.
