A partir d’un terrain ethnographique réalisé au Collège d’Europe, un institut semi-privé de formation aux métiers de l’Europe, ainsi que d’entretiens et d’archives, la thèse analyse la genèse de la formation à l’Europe dispensée dans cet établissement, et ses applications et effets sociaux contemporains. Ce travail apporte une triple contribution scientifique : la première est d’expliquer comment se sont cristallisés à Bruges un réseau d’acteurs et une définition de l’Europe dans les années 1950-1960 ; la seconde participe à la connaissance des modalités de formation aux métiers de l’Europe, dans un environnement scolaire international englobant ; la troisième est relative aux usages de ce capital international par les classes dominantes en Europe. The research focuses on the training of the European professional dominant classes. Based on an ethnographic fieldwork carried out at the College of Europe, as well as on interviews and archives, the thesis analyses the genesis of the training on European studies provided in this institution and its contemporary applications. This thesis makes a triple contribution : first, it establishes how a network of actors, and a definition of Europe are established in Bruges in the 1950s and 1960s. Teaching and scientific research done at the College of Europe were supposed to be implemented in daily life at the school; second, this thesis contributes to the comprehension of the training modalities of the European professional. The institution works on certain international dispositions of the students, constituted before or during the schooling in Bruges. The third contribution relates to the uses of this international capital by members of the dominant classes in Europe.
