Daniel Traduction Bible -- Versions grecques La thèse de doctorat d’Anna Mambelli porte sur le contexte hellénistique et la signification des récits de rêves de Daniel (Dn) 2 et 4 dans ses deux versions grecques complètes, dites respectivement Old Greek (OG) et Théodotion. Cette thèse en cotutelle est dirigée par Luca Mazzinghi, professeur d'Ancien Testament à l'Université Pontificale Grégorienne de Rome, et Eberhard Bons, professeur d'Ancien Testament à l'Université de Strasbourg et éditeur de l’Historical and Theological Lexicon of the Septuagint (Mohr Siebeck, Tübingen), un projet de recherche de la FSCIRE (= Fondazione per le scienze religiose Giovanni XXIII, Bologne) coordonné par Anna Mambelli et Daniela Scialabba. La question principale à laquelle la thèse entend répondre est de savoir s'il est possible d'identifier, dans l'une ou l'autre des versions grecques anciennes de Daniel, ou dans les deux, des changements intentionnels et des innovations dans le vocabulaire du rêve qui peuvent être attribués au(x) seul(s) traducteur(s) et qui entraînent des conséquences narratives, exégétiques et même théologiques. Cette question clé explique pourquoi l'analyse philologique et linguistique minutieuse de Dn 2 et 4 dans ses versions grecques et la comparaison constante entre chacune d'elles et la Vorlage araméenne sont constamment accompagnées de l'enquête exégétique et historique. Cette étude ne révèle pas seulement la sensibilité linguistique grecque et la vaste culture littéraire et rhétorique du traducteur de l'OG : elle révèle aussi la veine sarcastique de ce dernier et la perspective historico-théologique qu'il entend transmettre. L'OG ne trahit pas le texte araméen de Daniel mais lui donne un profil littéraire spécifique et actualise son message en le rendant accessible à de "nouveaux" destinataires, c'est-à-dire à la communauté juive alexandrine à laquelle le traducteur appartient lui-même. Le sens spécifique que l’OG attribue aux rêves de Nabuchodonosor, ainsi qu'aux personnages et symboles qui peuplent ces songes, est éclairé dans cette thèse par des comparaisons répétées avec des textes de la littérature grecque archaïque, classique et hellénistique, des papyri grecs de l'Égypte ptolémaïque et d'autres sources extrabibliques. The doctoral dissertation of Anna Mambelli focuses on the Hellenistic context and the meaning of the dream reports in Daniel (Dan) 2 and 4 in its two complete Greek versions, known respectively as the Old Greek (OG) and Theodotion. This joint PhD dissertation (cotutelle) is supervised by Luca Mazzinghi, Professor of Old Testament at the Pontifical Gregorian University, Rome, and Eberhard Bons, Professor of Old Testament at the University of Strasbourg and editor of the Historical and Theological Lexicon of the Septuagint (Mohr Siebeck, Tübingen), a FSCIRE (= Fondazione per le scienze religiose Giovanni XXIII, Bologna) research project coordinated by Anna Mambelli and Daniela Scialabba. The main question that the dissertation intends to answer is whether it is possible to identify, in either or both of the ancient Greek versions of Daniel, intentional changes and innovations in the dream vocabulary that can be attributable to the translator(s) alone and that have narrative, exegetical and even theological consequences. This key issue explains why the careful philological and linguistic analysis of Dan 2 and 4 in its Greek versions and the constant comparison between each of them and the Aramaic Vorlage are constantly accompanied by the exegetical and historical investigation. Not only does this study reveal the Greek linguistic sensibility and the vast literary and rhetorical culture of the OG translator: it also reveals the latter’s sarcastic vein and the historical-theological perspective he intends to convey. The OG does not betray the Aramaic text of Daniel but gives it a specific literary profile and actualises its message making it accessible to “new” recipients, i.e. the Alexandrian Jewish community to which the translator himself belongs. The specific meaning that OG attributes to Nebuchadnezzar’s dreams, as well as to the characters and symbols that populate those dreams, are illuminated in this dissertation by repeated comparisons with texts of archaic, classical and Hellenistic Greek literature, Greek papyri from Ptolemaic Egypt and other extra-biblical sources.
