Le cadre de la « promenade », à la fois lieu, activité sociale et méditation solitaire s’avère être propice à cette étude plurielle, dont le caractère sédimentaire a pour ambition de montrer l’inscription du champ littéraire dans une réalité plus large. Ainsi, c’est jusqu’à la définition du « réalisme » et du « naturalisme » que ce travail revient, non pour le redéfinir, mais pour en proposer une analyse complémentaire à celles déjà existantes : montrer qu’une nouvelle école littéraire est née, aussi, parce que le monde alentour était le théâtre de bouleversements sans précédent, aux effets divers, du « réel » externe aux soubresauts de l’âme, objectivés par la psychiatrie et la psychologie émergentes. This work attempts to analyse, from a perspective close to sociocriticism, the way in which literature has recorded the renewal of an urban practice, and its multiple consequences, from the urban landscape to individual psychology, via the renewal of novelistic prose. The framework of the "walk", which is at once a place, a social activity and a solitary meditation, proves to be favourable to this plural study, whose sedimentary aspect aims to show the inscription of the literary field in a wider reality. Thus, it is to the definition of "realism" and "naturalism" that this work returns, not to redefine them, but to propose an analysis complementary to those already existing : showing that a new literary school was born, also, because the surrounding world was the theatre of unprecedented upheavals, with diverse effects, from the external "real" to the jolts of the soul, objectified by emerging psychiatry and psychology.
