Sahel Vert expérimente depuis 2011 une démarche de recherche action participative au sein de ses centres (en France et au Mali) dans l’optique d’analyser l’impact de ses pratiques sur son fonctionnement, ses modalités d’accompagnement social de son public cible et sur les personnes impliquées et la portée de leur participation sur la structure. Cette recherche interroge l’écart entre, d’un côté les valeurs prônées par l’association et, de l’autre, la complexité des réalités de terrain. Nous pouvons y lire le résultat d’une mise à l’épreuve de l’action collective et de ses conséquences paradoxales. L’association, comme toute organisation, présente plusieurs facettes. Elle est un lieu d’apprentissages, de transmission de valeurs, de production de sociabilités et de socialités susceptibles de rejaillir dans la société. Elle est aussi le lieu de conflits, de tensions, de jeux de pouvoir, de critiques, de compromis sans cesse renégociables mais aussi de ruptures. Pour mieux cerner cette complexité, ce travail s’attache d’une part, à l’analyse de cette action collective (création, transformations, institutionnalisation) et de ses particularités (en matière d’accompagnement social et de vision du monde) en lien avec l’expérience, le parcours et les convictions de ses fondateurs. D’autre part, ce travail s’attache à l’analyse de la manière dont les personnes et/ou acteurs s’accommodent ou pas de certaines règles et de normes prescrites et cherchent à les faire évoluer. Cette action collective présente un caractère atypique par son ambition de transformation sociale et d'émancipation qui la distingue des autres structures et qui est une source d’interrogations que nous discutons tout au long de ce travail bâti sur une observation participante de huit années et d’entretiens semi-directifs réalisés en France et au Mali. At the outset, this research was initiated following a request from the Sahel Vert association in Wittenheim (France), which is engaged in the field of social support and international solidarity in Alsace and Mali. Indeed, Sahel Vert has since 2011 initiated a participatory action research approach within its centers (in France and Mali) aiming at analyzing the impact of its practices on its operations, social support procedures, beneficiaries as well as actors involved and the scope of their participation on the organization. This research enquires about the gaps between the values promoted by the association and the complexity of the field realities. A critical reading of the thesis shows the challenges of testing a collective action and its paradoxical consequences. The association, like any other association, has many features. It is a place of learning, transmission of values, production of sociability and sociality likely to reverberate in society. It is also the place of conflicts, tensions, power games, criticisms, compromises constantly renegotiated, but also fallings-out. To better understand this complexity, this work focuses on the one hand, on the analysis of the collective action (initiation, transformations, institutionalization) and its particularities (in terms of social support and vision of the world) in relation to the experience, background, and convictions of its founders, and on the other hand, the analysis of the way in which people and/or actors adapt or not to certain rules and prescribed standards and seek to change them. The collective action presents a peculiar character owing to its ambition to bring about social transformation and emancipation, which distinguishes the association from other associations while at the same time raising questions that we discuss throughout this work built on an eight-year participant observation and semi-structured interviews conducted in France and Mali.
