Cette thèse d’anthropologie a pour objectif de déterminer s’il existe une communauté spécifique à cet environnement si particulier et d’analyser le processus de construction de cette communauté. Grâce à un terrain ethnographique de quinze mois, de novembre 2019 à janvier 2021, cette recherche se concentre sur les hivernants de la 70e mission en Terre Adélie. Nous exploitons ainsi un ensemble de données qui permettent de mieux comprendre comment un groupe d’inconnus se construit pour faire face aux éléments extérieurs, mais aussi pour assurer une stabilité en son sein.Cette ethnographie met en lumière l'hétérogénéité de cette communauté antarctique, à l'échelle du continent, mais également à l'échelle d'une station. Et, en tenant compte de l'existence de sous-groupes au sein de cette communauté antarctique, l'étude des dynamiques sociales des hivernants révèle que chaque mission fait l’expérience à la fois d’une culture antarctique commune et d’une identité communautaire unique. Overwintering refers to the period during which a group of individuals, overwinterers, live and work within an Antarctic station. This anthropology thesis aims to determine whether there is a community, specific to this very particular environment and analyze the construction process of this community.Thanks to a fifteen-month ethnographic fieldwork, from November 2019 to January 2021, this research focuses on the overwinterers of the 70th mission, Adélie Land. We thus exploit a set of data that allow us to better understand how a group of strangers is built to cope with external elements, but also to ensure stability in it.This ethnography highlights the heterogeneity of this Antarctic community, on the scale of the continent, but also on the scale of a station. And, taking into account the existence of sub-groups within this Antarctic community, the study of the overwinterers's social dynamics reveals that each mission experiences both a common Antarctic culture and a unique community identity.
