Cependant, dans les écrits des philosophes occidentaux de l'individu que sont Søren Kierkegaard, Max Stirner et le marquis de Sade, le processus de devenir individu s'accompagne d'un solipsisme qui tend à la radicalisation, voire même à l'absolu égoïsme et au repli sur soi méthodologique. L'association des trois auteurs permet en effet l'élaboration d'un concept de solipsisme qui revêt plusieurs formes : il est psychologique, politique et religieux. Il traverse les stades de l'existence et la recherche de la foi dans l'intériorité propres à l’œuvre de Kierkegaard, occupe une position centrale dans la doctrine du mal des libertins de Sade et oppose l'individu à l'État dans l'anarchisme individualiste de Stirner. Solipsism is very widely considered as a big philosophical joke, because it is untenable as a definitive existential position or as a behaviour congruent with the reality of the human life. However, in the writings of the occidental philosophers about the individual such as Søren Kierkegaard, Max Stirner and the marquis de Sade, the process of becoming an individual goes hand in hand with a solipsism which leads to more radicalisation, or even to the absolute egoism or to a methodological inward-looking attitude. The association of the 3 authors actually allows the elaboration of a concept of solispsim which has several forms : it is psychological, political and religious. It goes through the phases of existence and the search of faith in the specific interiority of Kierkegaard's work, holds a central position in the evil doctrin of Sade's smutty characters and opposes the indiviual to the State in the individualist anarchism of Max Stirner.
