<dcterms:abstract xml:lang="en">This research aims to improve the accuracy of EC decay rate calculations, which are essential in various fields, including nuclear physics and metrology. The first chapter examines the influence of atomic modeling on capture probabilities and associated shaking processes. Atomic descriptions derived from RDFT are compared with experimental results for various nuclei. By validating theoretical models with experimental data, we aim to enhance our understanding of the underlying physics. A theoretical analysis addresses electronic corrections, such as shaking processes and many-body effects. These corrections are crucial for accurate calculations of capture probabilities. This is evident in the case of 7Be, which shows significant discrepancies in L/K capture ratios compared to experimental data and between atomic models. We discovered that electronic effects significantly influence the capture rate, necessitating precise considerations of electronic states, particularly for isotopes with Z<10. In the second chapter, an innovative approach to describe the capture process in a chemical environment is explored. Traditionally, L/K ratios are measured by observing X-rays or Auger electrons emitted during the de-excitation of the daughter atom. Recent experiments in solid materials, such as STJs and MMCs, provide new perspectives and motivate further investigations. For instance, two different measurements of the L/K ratio were conducted in different materials for the decay of 7Be. These discrepancies highlight the need for a comprehensive understanding of environmental effects on capture processes. Therefore, we propose a methodology to calculate capture rates in a chemical environment through the analysis of various types of cluster implantation. To achieve this, we extend the Behrens and Bühring model to include isotope decay in a chemical environment. The numerical code for calculating electronic states had to be modified and updated to accurately describe multi-centered electronic states. For this purpose, the Gaussian software and post-calculation scripts were used to derive a manageable expression of the electronic states. In summary, this thesis presents an investigation into the impact of electronic modeling on capture probabilities for metrological purposes. By comparing DFT calculations with experimental data, addressing electronic corrections, and developing new methodologies for environmental contexts, we aim to improve the accuracy of EC decay rate calculations. The insights gained emphasize the importance of considering detailed electronic and environmental factors in theoretical models. The broader implications of this research extend to applications in nuclear physics and metrology. Improved calculations of EC decay rates can enhance the accuracy of decay data, crucial for nuclear reactors, radiotherapy, and environmental monitoring. In metrology, accurate capture probabilities contribute to the development of more precise measurement standards. To a lesser extent, in materials science, understanding capture processes in solid materials can inform the design of advanced materials with tailored electronic properties. Future research can build on these results by exploring other radionuclides and environmental conditions, refining theoretical models, and integrating data from new technologies. Collaborative efforts between theorists and experimentalists will be essential to further advance our understanding of EC processes and their practical applications.</dcterms:abstract>
