Depuis 2022, la guerre en Ukraine a bouleversé la production agricole et interrompu les statistiques officielles, alors que le pays joue un rôle clé dans l’approvisionnement mondial en blé. Dans ce contexte, la thèse développe des méthodes rigoureuses, basées sur la télédétection et des estimateurs non biaisés, pour estimer en saison les superficies cultivées, abandonnées, en jachère ou recultivées. Le Chapitre 2 démontre la faisabilité de cartographies non supervisées des céréales d’hiver et du colza, appuyées par un échantillonnage probabiliste et l’interprétation d’images satellites, fournissant des estimations fiables par statut d’occupation. Le Chapitre 3 caractérise les dynamiques spatio-temporelles des terres agricoles face au conflit, montrant notamment 2,2 Mha abandonnés en 2024 et des reprises de culture dans les zones reconquises. Le Chapitre 4 évalue l’apport des cartes en saison pour optimiser les plans d’échantillonnage post-conflit. Ensemble, ces travaux renforcent la transparence des marchés et la résilience des statistiques agricoles ukrainiennes.
Since 2022, the war in Ukraine has severely disrupted agricultural production and interrupted official statistics, despite the country’s central role in global wheat supply. This thesis develops rigorous approaches using remote sensing and unbiased estimators to assess, in real time, cropland areas under cultivation, abandonment, fallow, or recultivation. Chapter 2 shows the feasibility of unsupervised mapping of winter cereals and rapeseed, combined with probabilistic sampling and satellite image interpretation, to deliver reliable estimates by territorial control. Chapter 3 analyzes spatio-temporal dynamics of farmland under conflict, revealing 2.2 Mha abandoned in 2024 and signs of recultivation in retaken areas. Chapter 4 evaluates how in-season crop maps can improve sampling designs in a post-war setting. Overall, the work strengthens market transparency and enhances the resilience of Ukrainian agricultural statistics.
