<dcterms:abstract xml:lang="fr">L’intégration de liaisons mécaniques dans des polymères ouvre la voie à de nouvelles architectures moléculaires pour la conception de matériaux aux propriétés inédites. Cette thèse explore l’utilisation des polyrotaxanes—polymères entrelacés mécaniquement—dans deux systèmes. Dans le premier, des poly(pseudo)rotaxanes sont synthétisés par enfilage d’anneaux sur du PVC via une méthode de clipping. Le plastifiant, greffé sur les anneaux, ne migre pas hors du matériau, tout en améliorant l’efficacité de la plastification, grâce à la nature dynamique et robuste de la liaison mécanique. Dans un second système, un polymère invité enfile, via un mécanisme de pompage activé par la lumière, des anneaux portés en chaînes latérales par un polymère hôte. Il en résulte un polyrotaxane latéral évoluant vers un réseau réticulé mécaniquement. Ce système constitue la première machine macromoléculaire à base de polymères entrelacés mécaniquement fonctionnant hors équilibre, capable de produire un travail et une réponse matérielle macroscopique.</dcterms:abstract>
<dcterms:abstract xml:lang="en">The integration of mechanical bonds into polymers expands the scope of chemical architectures for designing advanced materials with novel properties. This thesis explores the use of polyrotaxanes—mechanically interlocked polymers—in two systems. First, polypseudorotaxanes were synthesized by threading rings onto PVC via a clipping approach. Anchoring plasticizers to the rings prevented their migration, a common issue in industrial PVC, while enhancing plasticization efficiency—an effect attributed to the unique dynamic yet robust nature of the mechanical bond. In a second work, a light-driven molecular pump was integrated into polymer chains: a guest polymer threads rings side-functionalized on a host polymer, forming a side-chain polyrotaxane that evolves into a mechanically crosslinked network. This system constitutes the first out-of-equilibrium polyrotaxane-based macromolecular machine capable of performing work and eliciting a macroscopic material response.</dcterms:abstract>
