<dcterms:abstract xml:lang="fr">Les études discutées dans cette thèse ont permis d'identifier des voies de synthèse qui auraient pu conduire à des blocs de construction de phospholipides complexes sous des contraintes prébiotiques, y compris la synthèse de novo et l'interconversion des groupes de tête hydrophiles des glycérophospholipides et la synthèse de novo de queues hydrophobes longues de 8-14 carbones. Les résultats de cette thèse remettent en question l'hypothèse selon laquelle les glycérol-1/3-phospholipides ont été générés après l'émergence des enzymes primitives ou des ribozymes, c'est à dire que les lipides complexes sont apparus à un stade ultérieur de l'évolution moléculaire. Les résultats présentés ici suggèrent au contraire que les éléments constitutifs des phospholipides complexes auraient pu être disponibles sur la Terre primitive, ce qui aurait pu conduire à l'émergence de membranes primitives de composition diverse, servant de modèles pour l'étude de la fusion, de la reconnaissance moléculaire, de la signalisation et de la réplication par le biais de cycles de croissance et de division.</dcterms:abstract>
<dcterms:abstract xml:lang="en">The studies discussed in this thesis have identified synthetic pathways that could have led to complex phospholipid building blocks under prebiotic constraints, including de novo synthesis and interconversion of the hydrophilic headgroups of glycerophospholipids and de novo synthesis of 8-14 carbon long hydrophobic tails. The results of this thesis challenge the hypothesis that glycerol-1/3-phospholipids were generated after the emergence of primitive enzymes or ribozymes, i.e. that complex lipids appeared at a later stage of molecular evolution. The results presented here suggest instead that the building blocks of complex phospholipids could have been available on the early Earth, which could have led to the emergence of primitive membranes of diverse composition, serving as models for the study of fusion, molecular recognition, signaling, and replication through growth and division cycles.</dcterms:abstract>
