<dcterms:abstract xml:lang="fr">Cette thèse interroge les interactions entre le travail, la culture et la mondialisation, en explorant leurs transformations sur deux terrains contrastés : Rood-Woko, le grand marché de Ouagadougou, et l'écosystème Tera dans le Lot-et-Garonne. Fondée sur une ethnographie comparée, cette approche examine les techniques de production – le marchandage et l’éco-production – et leur mise oeuvre, leur corrélation aux valeurs locales, les temporalités sociales et la biographie des acteurs, avec une perspective historique sur les modalités de construction et l’évolution de ces faits culturels. Les représentations et les pratiques du travail révèlent qu’il constitue un imaginaire central des sociétés modernes, co-produit essentiellement dans la mondialisation et porté par des récits mythologiques, à l’instar du mythe de la civilisation. L’objet imaginaire du travail demeure principalement la richesse, dont les significations oscillent entre le lien social et différentes conceptions monétaires. Le rapport au travail, lui se donne fondamentalement comme la production et la transformation des cultures. L’apport de cette réflexion est d’introduire, au coeur de la controverse inachevée du travail, le fait culturel heuristiquement revalorisé et sa dynamique de co-production dans la mondialisation : la coculturation. La culture apparaît comme une pratique sociale qui se déploie à l’échelle du monde, où les sociétés tissent des liens de coopération et de conflits. Dans sa perspective la plus générale et approfondie, cette approche redéfinit l’économie comme l'institution politique des choses, et réaffirme sa nature plurielle. Elle défend également la valorisation des communs – la monnaie, l’environnement – pour relever les défis contemporains, comme la transformation écologique, l’après-croissance, la cohabitation au monde.</dcterms:abstract>
<dcterms:abstract xml:lang="en">This thesis examines interactions between work, culture, and globalization, by exploring their transformations across two contrasting fields: Rood-Woko, the great market of Ouagadougou, and the Tera ecosystem in Lot-et-Garonne. Based on a comparative ethnography, this approach analyses production techniques – bargaining and eco-production – and their implementation, their correlation with local values, social temporalities, and biographies of actors, while adopting a historical perspective on the construction and evolution of these cultural phenomena. Representations and practices of work reveal that it constitutes a central imaginary of modern societies, co-produced through globalization and supported by mythological stories, such as the myth of civilization. The imaginary object of work remains wealth, whose meanings fluctuate between social bonds and diverse monetary conceptions. The relationship to work remains fundamentally the production and transformation of cultures. The contribution of this approach is to introduce, at the heart of the unfinished controversy of work, a heuristic revaluation of culture and its global dynamic, referred to in French co-culturation. Culture thus emerges as a social practice moving on a global scale, where societies construct networks of cooperation and conflict. In its most general and in-depth perspective, this thesis redefines economy as the political institution of things and demonstrates its plural nature. It also calls for the recognition of commons – currency, environment – in addressing contemporary challenges such as ecological transition, degrowth, and global coexistence.</dcterms:abstract>
