La question religieuse est une préoccupation profonde de Whitehead : dans son parcours personnel et dans ses écrits. L’expérience en elle-même a, en outre, l’avantage de proposer une approche scientifique qui n’évince pas le sujet et une analyse qui permet de penser le mouvement, le changement et non seulement la permanence ou la répétition. Ainsi, on va pouvoir élaborer des lignes de force tout en gardant un intérêt pour les surgissements de l’expérience. Cette thèse n’énonce donc pas des caractéristiques ou universaux de l’expérience religieuse mais se veut un potentiel impur, une proposition whiteheadienne. Ce qui signifie un existant, (pas seulement l’énoncé d’une chose vraie ou fausse ou encore le lien entre le fait et mot). Pour autant il est bien question de relation et non de propriétés. Nous voulons montrer que l’expérience émerge du religieux autant que le religieux émerge de l’expérience, et comment ils naissent l’un de l’autre et se transforment mutuellement. The aim of this essay is to reflect on the human being from the point of view of religious experience. The religious question is one of Whitehead’s deep concerns, both in his personal journey and his writings. Besides, experience as such offers a scientific approach where immersion and distancing allows not to remove the subject and an analysis that allows to think movement, changes and not only intransience and repetition. Thus, we are able to bring about line forces while keeping an eye on the surges of experience. This essay doesn’t provide characteristics or universals related religious experience, but tries to be a Whiteheadian proposition. That is to say a being, and not only a statement of something true or false, or the relation between a fact and a word. However, it is a matter of relations not of properties. We hope to show that experience rises from the religious, just as much as the religious rises from experience, and how they transform each other. To this end, the notion of experience needs to be studied through and through to uncover what is the passage — where the subject appears in its insecurity.
