After exploring its use in early and contemporary Greek literature, as well as its fate in the works of intertestamental Judaism and the two major Jewish authors of the first century, Philo of Alexandria and Flavius Josephus, it questions the translators' choice of vocabulary by analyzing the corresponding Hebrew roots in its Vorlage.
