Nous avons vu que, du point de vue des auteurs anciens, cet espace est approprié dès les premiers temps de la Conquête, le Rhin formant toujours une frontière, réelle ou symbolique. Nous avons établi une hiérarchie entre les agglomérations structurant ces territoires civiques. L'organisation des civitates semble alors correspondre à un schéma basé sur un chef-lieu situé à peu près au centre du territoire, avec des agglomérations-relais, ayant un caractère urbain affirmé. Si certaines de ces agglomérations, mais pas la majorité, ont une origine laténienne avérée, ce schéma semble répondre à la volonté de l'autorité romaine. Durant l'Antiquité tardive, l'organisation des civitates est modifiée, parfois en profondeur. This work concerns the territories of four civitates located between Rhine and Meuse and their organisation during Roman times : the Leuci and the Mediomatrici in Mosellan Gaul, the Triboci and the Rauraci on the left bank of the Rhine. From the point of view of ancient writers, we have observed that this space has been appropriated since the Conquest, with the Rhine as a real or a symbolic frontier. We have established a hierarchy between the towns that structures these civic territories. The organisation of the civitates seems to correspond with a model based on a civitas capital in the centre of the territory, with other important towns all around the territory, like relays of the capital. If some of those towns, but not the majority, have a latenian origin, this model may be compatible with the will of the Roman authority. During late Antiquity, the organisation of the civitates have sometimes been deeply modified.
