Through the experience of an internship in the firm Séché Environement, this report seeks to answer the question: how to implement an Environmental Management System (EMS) - ISO 14001 in a composting plant? At first, descriptions of the ISO 14001 and of the composting plant lead to the explanation of the interest of the implementation of an EMS. The approach shows that the implementation of an EMS in a composting plant will enable it to reduce its environmental impact while improving its overall operations and its external image. Then, the analysis of Scherwiller’s EMS helps to understand how the EMS has been adapted to the field of composting. We can observe in particular that the initial choice of Significant Environmental Aspect is the key of the final content of the EMS. From planning to teams’ communication, the last part shows that using the synergies and applying the rules of project management, can greatly accelerate the preparation of an ISO 14001 certification., Thèses et écrits académiques
