Description : International and European Business, The following thesis deals with the topic of cultural differences and how they affect international business negotiations in a financial environment. The syndicated loan market hereby represents a perfect example that cultural similarities have an impact on loan syndication. The contracted loan spread between lender and borrower is the lower the more similar both parties are. Based on a dataset of nearly 22,000 loans from 55 countries, culture is measured by the popular indexes of culture by HOFSTEDE (1980), INGLEHART - WELZEL (2005) and by the trust index by MEDRANO (2013). The main conclusion is that culture is an important factor in an international and globalized business world that should not be omitted in intercultural pricing negotiations. Nonetheless, culture in financial research should be reviewed further in order to provide a more accurate quantitative modeling of culture in financial issues., Thèses et écrits académiques
