Une fois le sevrage initié, le pharmacien est le seul à pouvoir délivrer les traitements d'aide au sevrage. Afin de faciliter leur mise en place, j'ai créé pendant mon externat à NHC de Strasbourg des documents d'aide à la prescription de substituts nicotiniques qui sont à instaurer en première intention. Le pharmacien peut aussi prendre en charge les symptômes liés au sevrage. L'accompagnement des patients peut se faire via des entretiens abordant les dépendances comportementales et psychologiques ou renforçant la motivation du fumeur, ou en mettant en relation le patient avec des réseaux d'aide. Le rôle du pharmacien est donc majeur dans la réussite du sevrage tabagique puisqu'il est capable d'intervenir sur toutes les facettes de la prise en charge.
