<dc:description xsi:type="unistra:Resume" xml:langue="">Introduction : Animal-assisted therapies are developing more and more within the medico-social field. Equine-assisted therapy, which uses the relationship between the patient and the horse as a therapeutic mediator, is part of this broader context. However, the role of this practice within healthcare pathways and its links with general practice remain insufficiently studied. This study aimed to explore the perceptions, practices and expectations of equine-assisted therapy practitioners regarding their role within healthcare pathways and their collaboration with general practitioners. Materials and methods : A qualitative study was conducted using semi-structured interviews with practitioners of equine-assisted therapy practicing in the Alsace region (France). An inductive thematic analysis was conducted on the data. Results and discussion : Eleven practitioners with diverse professional backgrounds and practice settings were interviewed. The populations supported ranged from children to older adults. Reported indications mainly included neurodevelopmental disorders, anxiety and depressive disorders, neurological conditions and behavioural difficulties. Practitioners reported psychological, relational and sometimes motor benefits from the equine-assisted therapy. Access to interventions was mostly initiated by patients or their relatives, while referrals from general practitioners remained uncommon, and participants also highlighted the absence of a clear regulatory framework and lack of reimbursement as barriers to accessibility and integration within healthcare pathways. Conclusion : Equine-assisted interventions appear to be a complementary approach that may contribute to certain therapeutic, educational or rehabilitation care programs. Collaboration with general practition-ers remains limited. The development of a clearer regulatory, funded framework, particularly in the context of recent legislative discussions on animal-assisted interventions, together with improved interprofessional communication, could facilitate their integration into healthcare pathways</dc:description>
