Opportunities for the Improvement of the Public Transport Sector in Latin America

Description : International - European Business, Globally, mobility has become essential to employment, economy, culture and health. Metropoles such as Medellin, Bogota, Strasbourg, São Paulo and Santiago de Chile leagues job creation and always attract more people under the condition that they know how to maintain their urban mobility image. Nevertheless, at the cost of an increase in mobility needs e.g. infrastructure modernity, digital air, mobility 3.0, smart city. All over the world, challenges around transportation through ever-increasing number of mobility plans, exist. This paper focuses on the project of a tramway system in Bogota, Colombia, specifically oriented to the evaluation of the social impacts and the proposition of a complete market analysis for international companies. Through a Pestle Analysis, a Benchmarking and a Survey, we found that an integrated urban rail transport system is the best way to ensure Security and Health, Energy Efficiency and Climate Protection along with the industrialization and urbanization process. Finally, the conclusion draws a favourable environment and period to invest in the rail transport sector in Colombia.
